Motru

2008

In November 2008, inhabitants let us know that many dogs had been poisoned before national elections in Motru. The same as last year there died many dogs with owners, many neutered dogs and the mayor claimed that he has no idea about this, although witneeses confirm other theory. Dead dog bodies were brought to the Sanitary Veterinary Laboratory for analises. The press wrote about this. Also, the case is now under the Police investigation.

2007

In May 2007 we have been announced that before and on Europe Day, there  had been actions of poisonings in Motru city. Many dogs died, even dogs with owners and dogs that have been neutered, vaccinated and marked with earclips.   The  mayor denied any involvement, saying that the political enemies did this, but there were people who told that they saw the municipal employees throwing baits with poison and collecting the dead bodies.

While the officials of the city were celebrating the Europe Day, dead dogs’ bodies could be seen laying in different sites including in front of the Police. There had been many articles in the local and regional mass-media, including at TV.

We deposed intimations to the Police, but unfortunately the case wasn’t solved. This also because the people who witnessed this  didn’t want  to give any declaration to the Police.

2006 -2007

Stray dogs had been neutered by the FPCC mobile clinic vet and after few days they had been released in the areas they had been collected.

2005

In 2005 ,after many discussion with the mayor, taking into account our 4 contracts from Gorj county and our activity for years in Gorj county,he agreed to implement a "Neuter and Return " programme as he understood that this is the only humane way to solve the stray dogs ‘ problem on long term.

So, on 12th of April, our association in cooperation the " Fundatia pentru Protectia Cainilor Comunitari" – which has the obligation to come once or twice/ year with the mobile clinic -signed with the City Hall the "Neuter and Return " contract.

2002-2004

Like in every town from Gorj county, the mayors tried to solve stray dogs’ problems through their own ways, organizing huntings of dogs, poisoning them, catching and killing them etc.
