We welcome you on our website, that had recently a "change of look". We worked about two months at this website and we choosed to have on our website more photos, and to show you not empty words, or simply figures but real facts and images illustrating all our work and committment for animals’ welfare since 1999.
When taking a look at our website, please be aware that , as you’ll read in about us , "Pro Animals" is a small association that has been working restless for years, that has been working endless hours for what we belive in……
Our aim is to raise the level of awareness and education of people towards animal welfare and animal rights but also to highlight the importance of respecting all animals as sentient beings and of the humane and efficient ways to handle a social problem, a community problem – the stray dogs’ problem.
07.03.2008 -Someone let us know that a sick horse was laying down on a field at about 30 km from Tg-Jiu. We went there and discovered that the poor horse had been left to starve and abandoned by her owners….. read more
06.03.2008 – Pro Animals Finland organized some volunteers working for people’s benefit here in Romania, to come to help us build the dog’s cages sent in February. Take a look to see our new cages…….read more
27.02.2008 – Strays poisoning shocks animal lovers, but it is seen as a " normal" event by the local authorities. There died also dogs with owners. Our association collected two dead bodies and brought it to the Sanitary Veterinary Laboratory from Tg-Jiu for analises and there was discovered the substance called " carbofuran". This is not a single one man action but it is a complex campaign as plenty of dogs died in pains in differnt parts of the city in the same period. 10.01.2008 – Being an electoral year, our mayor together with the staff in charge with the Stray Dogs’ Management, adopted a new strategy unfortunately with the aim for increasing his image not for increasing animals’ life standards. Starting with January, municipality’s cathers continue their inhumane and illegal activities. Stray dogs are caught with the same primitive tools, tortured, dragged on the concret by chains and fulled with blood, tens of dogs transported crowded in a cage of 1 sqm into their van. A part of those caught dogs are brought to the newly public kennels, where are left with no medical care, or cages, puppies, with sick dogs and pregnant females. From outside, things look well, it seems that the City Hall does his job properly but the reality is another. 05.02.2008 – tens of dogs were shot to death near the rubbish dump of Tg-Jiu. Witnesses confirmed that the shooters were hunters that shot the dogs that were living there. Local mass-media wrote about this action. Despite our intimations to the competent authorities, no measures had been taken……...read more.
January 2008, a new Law for Animal Protection was adopted. This new Law contains changings of terms of the old Law, and bigger fines and penalties concerning animal cruelty. The competent institutions according the New Law are still the Police and the Sanitary-Veterinary Direction and the animal welfare organizations have the right to supervise. more news coming soon
31.01. 2007 – our representatives went to the Center for Old People where we are running the Animal Assisted Therapy programme, and made those people a nice suprise: made them some gifts but also some calendars illustrating scenes from 2007, with them and our therapy dogs…...read more
